Why would I consider being a foster parent? Becoming a foster parent is a big decision that should be made with care. You can positively affect the lives of many children, adolescents, and families by opening up your heart and sharing your home. Qualifications
- Be at least 21 years of age and have at least 5 years experience working with or parenting children.
- Have a high school diploma or the equivalent.
- Live in a home that has enough space and meets basic fire and safety standards
- Be physically and emotionally capable of caring for children.
- Be able to pass a criminal background check and fingerprinting.
Licensing Process
- Complete an application and other relevant paperwork. Access Application Forms
- Background check and fingerprinting
- Home Study
- Initial training of 18 hours before a child can be placed in the home
- Ongoing training requirements.
