Project Open Door

Project Open Door is a program of the Samaritan Counseling Center in Winnebago County and it was born in partnership with the First Presbyterian Church of Oshkosh, a long standing supporter of our mission. The Project’s goals are to educate the Oshkosh community about mental health, and provide mental health services for children and adolescents from low income families. Many of these families find closed doors when they need mental health services because of their financial limitations. As a result, their children may have greater difficulty opening doors to a better future. The name “Project Open Door” reflects both the SCCFV’s and the First Presbyterian Church of Oshkosh’s desire to provide these young people with the chance of getting mental health help to be able to build a better future for themselves. The project is funded by grants from the First Presbyterian Church of Oshkosh and Presbytery of Winnebago.  Espanola

Clergy Consultation - PDF of Brochure

The Samaritan Counseling Center and the American Foundation of Counseling Services offer a yearly Pastor Leadership Seminar for all area clergy. The Seminar’s goal is to improve leadership skills for today’s ministers including Pastors, Pastoral Associates, Deacons and Parish Directors. Participants present case studies of difficult situations in their churches, which require their leadership. Participants then receive peer feedback for fresh perspectives.

“What’s so good about this group is that it is about my church and my experience.”
Pastor Gail Irwin, Preble Park Presbyterian Church

“The seminar provided a safe place to explore real life leadership issues with other pastors.”
Pastor Bob Laubenstein, First United Church of Christ

“This is hands down the best continuing education experience I’ve had”
Pastor Lori Swenson, Ascension Lutheran Church
